"Altınköy Harvest Festival", which will reveal the beauty of village life and the fertility of the soil, will be held on Friday, July 19. "Harvest Festival", which has now become a tradition, was organized by Mayor Dr. It will start with Veysel Tiryaki sharpening his scythe in the village square. Then, visitors will be presented with all the traditions of village life, one by one.
Scythes will be hammered, crops will be harvested
The Harvest Festival will start with Mayor Tiryaki sharpening the scythe in the village square. Participants will walk to the wheat field with their sharpened scythes and chants, and will reap the crops in the wheat field. Afterwards, the harvested crops will be transported to the threshing floor, where horses and heifers will be plowed. After the wheat is crushed, the harvest will be carried to the water mill by donkeys. The wheat carried to the water mill will be ground here and turned into flour and then into bread. Thanks to these events, visitors will closely witness the journey of wheat grains to become bread.
The events where village rituals and village traditions are introduced will not be limited to this. The rich heritage of village life, from sawing logs in the sawmill to threshing laundry accompanied by chants in the laundry, from sorting wheat to threshing wheat in the mortar, will be passed on to future generations.
WE ARE WAITING FOR EVERYONE
Stating that Altınköy serves as a school to teach village life 100 years ago, Mayor Tiryaki said, "We have children who grow up thinking that milk is produced in factories and cucumbers grow on trees. We want them to learn the old village life here. The Harvest Festival has now become a tradition. Thanks to this tradition, we are happy to pass on our traditional culture, values, and this rich cultural heritage that exists in all of our memories to the next generations. How wheat is turned into bread, what is done in the village, "How life is lived without technology can be seen in all its details in this event. I hope our traditions and customs will be permanent and the abundance of our land will be eternal..." he said.
Mayor Tiryaki added that they welcome everyone who wants to witness these beauties closely to Altınköy Open Air Museum on Friday and said, "We especially want our children to come to Altınköy and see these values, traditions and customs closely." he said.
