The month of Ramadan was spent to the fullest in Altındağ. At the iftar tables, where thousands of citizens come together every year, there was always love in the hearts and prayers on the lips. Hosting guests from a different neighborhood every evening, Altındağ Mayor Dr. Veysel Tiryaki and his wife Saadet Tiryaki took care of everyone individually. Citizens, who showed great interest in the iftar gatherings, thanked Mayor Tiryaki and Altındağ Municipality for their invitation.

“THE BREAD EATEN TOGETHER WITH MY ALTINTAĞLI BROTHERS HAS A DIFFERENT TASTE…”

Stating that having iftar in unity and solidarity has become a tradition for years in Altındağ, Mayor Tiryaki said, "Ramadan gatherings have become a tradition that everyone eagerly awaits throughout the year... Every year in Ramadan, we invite all the neighborhoods of our district to our iftar table, and we break our fast in unity and solidarity, with love and prayers. Everyone has bread to eat at home. But here, the taste of the bread eaten together with my brothers from Altındağ is different..." he said.

“WOMEN IN ALTındaĞ INVITE THEIR HUSBANDS TO IFTAR”

Mayor Tiryaki noted the following: "We have not been setting up a Ramadan tent for years. We do not have a tradition of setting up a Ramadan tent in Altındağ. Instead, we come together with our citizens in our decent and comfortable halls belonging to our municipality. Our organizations take place through our Women's Education and Culture Centers in each neighborhood. We send an invitation on behalf of the women from Altındağ who are members of our center. Women come with their husbands and families. They are very pleased with this. 'My wife never took me to dinner, but I took her to dinner. There are many women from Altındağ who say 'I invited them'... It is very meaningful for us to help them experience this feeling... In addition, thanks to iftar meetings, neighbors who have been living in the same building for years but have never known each other come together. These tables also contribute greatly to neighborly relations... Families living in the same building meet and bond with each other.

TOOTH RENTAL TRADITION IS ALSO KEPT ALIVE

At Altındağ Municipality's iftar gatherings, the tradition of "tooth rent", one of the most beautiful traditions of Anatolia, is kept alive. Mayor Tiryaki explained how dental rent is kept alive in Altındağ with the following words:

"Tooth rent is the best way of exchanging gifts during Ramadan. During the Ottoman period, the gifts given to guests in houses and mansions where iftars were held during Ramadan were called 'tooth rent'. With this tradition, the host would offer gifts to his guests by saying, 'You were my guest, you took the trouble to earn good deeds, you came here, you worked hard, you walked the road, you tired your teeth while eating, let this be the rent for your tooth.' We, too, are Altındağ Municipality. "We try to keep this tradition alive every evening at our iftar gatherings. We give a small gift to each of our citizens as a souvenir of the day. Our citizens leave the iftar meeting very happy, and our children learn that we have such a beautiful tradition."

“I WISH A HAPPY HOLIDAY TO MY PRECIOUS CITIZENS”

Stating that they completed another month of Ramadan in unity and solidarity in Altındağ, Mayor Veysel Tiryaki said, "We felt the spirit of unity, togetherness and solidarity of the month of Ramadan, once again. This year, we reached the holiday with these beautiful feelings. I would like to thank all our citizens who honored us by joining our table of hearts and added meaning to our evening with their conversation. May God accept our fasts and make our unity and solidarity permanent. "I wish a happy Eid to my dear fellow countrymen and the entire Islamic world, and I hope that the Holy Ramadan Feast will be conducive to the arrival all over the world," he said.
