"WORKSHOP ON UNDERSTANDING ANKARA'S HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL VALUES" WAS HELD IN ALTındaĞ

Altındağ Municipality hosted another important event. The third of the "Workshop on Understanding Ankara's History and Cultural Values" was held in Altındağ. In addition to Altındağ Municipality Deputy Mayor Ahu Özyakup, the workshop was attended by; AK Party Istanbul Deputy Atty. Serkan Bayram, Head of Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Sanem Arıkan, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Cultural and Natural Heritage Department Projects Coordinator Bekir Ödemiş, Rector of Ankara Social Sciences University and President of the Writers' Union of Turkey Musa Kazım Arıcan, Ankara Gazi University Faculty Member Assoc. Dr. Oğuzhan Aydın, Culture and Art Reporters Association President İbrahim Gökdemir, members of the press and many guests attended. Participants expressed their gratitude to Altındağ Municipality and Mayor Veysel Tiryaki for their contributions to Ankara's historical and cultural studies. "ALTİNDAĞ IS VERY PRECIOUS FOR ANKARA..." Altındağ Deputy Mayor Ahu Özyakup, who made the opening speech of the workshop, stated that Altındağ Municipality protects the historical and cultural heritage of Ankara and said, "Cities are like people. They have a soul and identity. The city completes us, and we complete the city. We carry that identity everywhere... Home to many works that are the symbols of the Republic, what comes to mind when Ankara is mentioned until the 1930-1940s and even the 1950s, but in the following years it has become distorted." There used to be an Altındağ that was struggling with major problems due to urbanization and where people stayed away from living. Today, Altındağ has become a place that protects its cultural assets, draws attention with its tourism riches, and is visited by local and foreign tourists. In 2004, together with our Mayor of Altındağ, Mr. Veysel Tiryaki, we looked at the historical and cultural texture of Altındağ with a new perspective. A lot has changed in Altındağ since then, we have protected our essence and past. he said. "IF WE ARE GOING TO TALK ABOUT ANKARA'S HISTORY AND CULTURE, IT MEANS WE WILL TALK ABOUT ALTındaĞ" Özyakup continued his words as follows: "We revived Hamamönü, the most historical and touristic area of Ankara. 15 years ago, it was not possible to walk around the streets of Hamamönü. Today, Hamamönü has become known in Türkiye and the world. As Altındağ Municipality, we continued our work in the Hamamark and Ulucanlar region. We restored the Ulucanlar Prison and turned it into a museum. Ulucanlar became one of the most important and most visited museums in Türkiye. This hall, Ulucanlar Prison It was the hall where the prisoners watched movies... Today, it hosts this workshop. Visitors who come to Altındağ experience the village life of 100 years ago in our Altınköy Open Air Museum. You can deeply feel the meaning of pain, longing and hope by going on a historical journey. Altındağ is a district where all the spiritual values of Ankara are located. Hacı Bayram-ı Veli Mosque is located in Ankara Castle, which dates back to the Galatians. Almost all of the Seljuk and Ottoman architectural structures are in Altındağ, all the buildings from the years when the Republic was founded are in Altındağ, the 1st and 2nd Parliament, the house where Mehmet Akif Ersoy wrote the National Anthem are in Altındağ... When you remove Altındağ from Ankara, there will be no Ankara. All the values and structures that make Ankara Ankara are within the borders of Altındağ. "It is a very valuable place for Ankara. If we are going to talk about Ankara's history and culture, we will talk about Altındağ." The workshop then continued with the speeches of other participants about Ankara and Altındağ. At the end of the workshop, suggestions were made on preserving Ankara's historical and cultural riches and carrying them into the future, and some cooperation decisions were taken on this issue.
