Prof. started his speech by talking about the special relationship between mother and baby. Dr. İlknur Gönenç informed the participants about what normal birth is, the biological benefits of normal birth, the benefits of normal birth for mother and baby, and the differences between normal birth and cesarean birth. Gönenç said, "Birth, which forms the basis of the strong bond between mother and baby, is not only a physical process, but also a psychological and emotional experience. Normal birth is based on the natural physiological processes of the baby and the mother. The recovery process after normal birth is faster. Normal birth allows the mother's body to recover naturally, which helps the mother to return to daily activities more quickly and adapt to her normal life. In addition, normal birth has lower risks associated with infection, bleeding and surgical intervention compared to cesarean birth." Pointing out that the positive effects of natural birth on the baby are endless, Gönenç said, "The baby, who develops a strong immune system thanks to the beneficial bacteria he encounters in the birth canal, completes his lung development in a healthy way during this miraculous journey. Research reveals that protein secretions that regulate behaviors such as memory, learning and awareness in brain development are produced more in natural birth."
