In the seminar held by Özlem Aydoğan, topics such as specific learning difficulties, problems experienced at school, causes of specific learning disorders, dyslexia and writing difficulties, numerical calculation difficulties, visual perception disorders, abstract thinking difficulties, memory problems, speech problems and muscle control difficulties were discussed. “1 IN 10 CHILDREN MAY HAVE SPECIFIC LEARNING DISABILITY” Dr. Özlem Aydoğan said, "Specific learning difficulties can be seen in 1 in 10 children. It is twice as common in boys. 50 percent of children receiving special education receive special education due to specific learning difficulties. The need for special education in this group is high... Because they cannot achieve the same level of success as their peers compared to normal standard education." Aydoğan also emphasized that attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder can also be seen along with specific learning disabilities. “SPECIFIC LEARNING DISABILITY IS NOT INTELLECTUAL RETRACTION” Emphasizing that specific learning disabilities are not mental retardation, that the intelligence of children with this condition is normal or above normal, and that this is nothing to be ashamed of, Dr. Aydoğan said: "When children have a specific learning disability, they may read sentences backwards and missing letters, write capital letters where they should be written in lowercase letters within the sentence, and may experience many problems such as reading difficulty and writing difficulty, which we call dyslexia. However, for the child to be diagnosed, it is not necessary for the child to show all of these symptoms... Showing one or more of these symptoms may also be a sign that he has a specific learning disability. In such cases, we should take our child to a child psychiatrist to be examined and diagnosed." “OUR AIM IS TO MAKE OUR CHILDREN FEEL THAT WE ARE WITH THEM…” Altındağ Mayor Dr. emphasized that they are with the children of Altındağ in every field. Veysel Tiryaki said, "Specific learning disability is an important issue that our children face especially in their education life... This situation can be overcome when it is noticed at the right time and support is provided, and our children can be prepared for the future safely. Our duty is to facilitate this process, raise awareness of our families and make them feel that we are with our children..." President Tiryaki said, "We would like to thank our teacher and all our participants for their contribution."
