Children from Altındağ organized a meaningful event. The Capital People’s Garden was brightened by “Flowers of Love” planted by the children.

A meaningful event in Altındağ… Children from Altındağ organized a meaningful and colorful event. As part of its cultural memory and local heritage initiatives, the Alev Alatlı Science Center of Altındağ Municipality organized an informational session followed by a planting event about the “Love Flower,” one of Ankara’s endemic species. During the event, participants were informed about the Love Flower’s ecological characteristics, its importance for biodiversity, and its place in cultural memory. Participants then proceeded to plant the Love Flowers. 

 

ANKARA’S NATURAL HERITAGE: THE LOVE FLOWER

While the program emphasized the importance of protecting local species, it was stated that efforts to preserve Ankara’s natural heritage will continue. The Love Flower, which occurs naturally only in Ankara and is under protection, is among the important elements of natural heritage holding a geographical indication registration. The hands-on planting activities aim to raise awareness of nature conservation and strengthen environmental consciousness in future generations. 

 

“I HAD A WONDERFUL DAY”

Nisa Gül (9), one of the students participating in the event, said, “I came here with my friends and my mom to plant the Love Flower. We had a really fun time. I’ve always been curious about the Love Flower. I’m so happy.”

Another participant, Enes Tuğra Karaağaç (9), said, “The Flower of Love is such a beautiful flower. I had a wonderful day. I really loved it here. We also took some souvenir photos. I recommend everyone come here.”
