Altındağ Municipality hosted another meaningful event as part of Youth Week on May 19. Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin met with high school students at the “Youth at the Heart of Education” program held at the Altın Mekan Library in Başkent Millet Park, with the aim of keeping the spirit of May 19 alive and supporting the national, spiritual, and academic development of young people. Minister Tekin, who conversed with the students and answered their questions, noted that through events organized in schools throughout May under the theme “Youth of Knowledge at the Heart of Education,” they are striving to raise a generation that will uphold the legacy of the Republic. Highlighting the importance of the younger generation upholding national values, Minister Tekin said, “I thank all of you and your families for making us feel and experience the sense that a generation is emerging that will stand by us, this country, and this nation, and protect our independence.”
“OUR GOAL IS TO IMPROVE EDUCATION QUALITY…”
Minister Tekin also answered questions from students, including those regarding the “Turkey Century Education Model.” He noted that updating curricula to meet the demands of the modern era is necessary.
Emphasizing that the education system has not changed, Minister Tekin said, “The changes we’ve made should not be defined as a change to the education system. Completely changing the system would involve radical steps, such as extending elementary school to 10 years and high school to 2 years. What we’ve done is a revision tailored to the needs of the times. Twenty years ago, life was more static. Now, technology is changing at a dizzying pace. We must adapt quickly to these changes. We cannot educate you with outdated, incomplete, or incorrect information. We will not make any changes that are not necessary,” he said.
