Harvest time in Altınköy... The Traditional Harvest Festival, which will last 3 days this year, has started at Altınköy Open Air Museum. The "Harvest Festival", which has become a tradition at the Altınköy Open Air Museum, which brings the village life of 100 years ago to the city in Ankara, was held for the 9th time. The festival was opened by Altındağ Mayor Dr. Veysel Tiryaki did it. The festival hosted by President Tiryaki; AK Party Altındağ District Chairman Fatih Bildik, MHP Altındağ District Chairman Emin Sıtkı Aktaş, neighborhood headmen, Altındağ Municipality council members, district organization and many citizens attended. Citizens of Ankara showed great interest in the Harvest Festival from the first day. THE TRANSFORMATION OF WHEAT GRAIN INTO BREAD RECEIVED GREAT INTEREST The festival started with Mayor Tiryaki arriving at the village square on horseback. Later, Mayor Tiryaki and his entourage hammered and sharpened their scythes in the village square. After hammering the scythes, Mayor Tiryaki and his entourage walked to the wheat field. The crops harvested with scythes were carried to the threshing floor. Mayor Tiryaki rode horses and threw batoz here. The wheat thrown into the path was carried to the water mill by horses. The next stop of the participants was the water mill. Wheat ground in the water mill was turned into flour. Fragrant bread was made from the milled flour in the village bakery. Mayor Tiryaki took over the stone oven and baked bread. Protocol members and citizens who attended the harvest festival closely witnessed the transformation process of wheat grain into bread. The children, who experienced the harvesting process for the first time, could not hide their surprise. The activities in Altınköy were not limited to this. The traditional laundry activity held in the laundry also attracted great attention from visitors. The rugs, which were washed with water boiled in the boilers in the laundry, were slapped. Later, the participants who came to the village square were served ashure boiled in cauldrons. “WE LIVE TRADITION AND THE FUTURE TOGETHER” Pointing out that the Harvest Festival has now become a tradition, Altındağ Mayor Dr. Veysel Tiryaki said, "We came together for the traditional harvest festival held for the 9th time at our Altınköy Open Air Museum. In Altınköy, we are reviving the indispensable rituals of village life in Anatolia. We are keeping tradition and the future alive together at the Altınköy Open Air Museum. We will continue to do whatever we can to protect the ancient traditions of Anatolian culture and pass them on to future generations." CALL FROM MAYOR TİRYAKİ TO THE PEOPLE OF ANKARA Reminding that Altınköy has recently officially become a museum, Mayor Tiryaki said, "The Harvest Festival, which we organize traditionally, started with intense participation from the first day. Our festival, which we plan to last 3 days this year, includes various activities for our citizens of all ages. I invite everyone who wants to be together with the unique beauties of nature to experience this unique experience." Emphasizing that children should see Altınköy the most, Mayor Tiryaki said, "We have children who think that milk is produced in a factory, cucumbers grow on trees, see chicken only in the market, and grow up like this. We want them to learn the old village life here. I was born in the village, I grew up in the village. I know very well what it means to live in the village, the traditions of the village. I want today's children to learn these, too. We will pass on our traditional culture, our values, this rich cultural heritage that exists in all of our memories, to future generations through Altınköy." "We are struggling to explain how wheat turns into bread, what is done in the village, and how life is lived without technology. That is why we are waiting for our children the most in Altınköy."
