Dr. In the seminar held by Lügen Ceren Güneş, information was given about establishing a strong bond between parents and children and how to protect children from neglect and abuse. Within the scope of the program, where a different topic will be discussed each week, participants will be informed about topics such as "friendship relations and peer bullying in adolescents, setting limits for children, food addiction in children and adolescents and its effects on health, parent-child communication, behavioral addictions in children, internet addiction, attention deficit and hyperactivity." “THE FURTHER CHILDREN ARE FROM DIGITAL MEDIUMS, THE BETTER…” In the first seminar of the training program, topics such as "How to establish a safe bond with the child, types of neglect and neglect, abuse and abuse process, process of gaining privacy in children, symptoms of neglect and abuse, studies to prevent neglect and abuse, abuse and neglect in the age of technology, risks of the digital world, digital parenting, strengthening the interaction between children and parents, what parents can do, crisis management with strategies" were discussed. Emphasizing that the place where abuse incidents occur the most today is digital media, Güneş said, "The digital world is a very dangerous place for children... Digital risks are many and there are many cases of abuse and neglect here... Although we cannot completely prevent the digital world, we must provide limited use. We recommend 'no screen' for children at the age of 0-3 and 30 minutes of screen time at the age of 3-6. The more we reduce this time, the more we reduce the risk. The less screen exposure, the better... Parents should be very careful." "It has to happen," he said. "COMMUNICATION MUST BE OPEN FOR THE EMOTIONAL CONNECTION TO BE STRONG" Emphasizing that the emotional bond between parents and children should be very strong, Güneş said: "In order for the emotional bond to be strong, communication must be open. Generally, children choose not to share things because they are afraid of their families. When it is not shared or hidden, different negative situations can occur. Open communication and healthy boundary setting are the most important issues... Setting boundaries is not a bad thing, but it is very important to ensure the skill of setting healthy boundaries. This both supports the development of children and provides protection from neglect and abuse. Parents' attitudes, perspectives, healthy communication and boundary setting skills play a big role in preventing neglect and abuse." “I WILL NOW COMMUNICATE WITH MY CHILD MORE CAREFULLY AND CONSCIOUSLY” Yasemin Sönmez, a member of the Women's Education and Culture Center, said that she learned a lot from the training program and said, "I realized once again how important it is to establish a safe bond with my child in the seminar. I now understand better what some behaviors actually mean, especially when the signs of neglect and abuse are explained. We have also become very aware of the risks in the digital world. When I go home, I will communicate with my child more carefully and consciously." Another member, Sultan Tekin, said, "I learned that being a reliable parent to my child is possible not only by protecting but also by truly listening to him/her. Thanks to improvised activities, it was very useful to see in practice how to behave in times of crisis. Every parent should participate in such training. May God bless our President for giving us this opportunity."
