DIABETES SCREENING FOR WOMEN FROM ALTİNİNG

Free health screenings continue in Altındağ Municipality. Within the scope of November 14 World Diabetes Day, diabetes information and diabetes screening were carried out at Altındağ Municipality Women's Education and Culture Centers, in cooperation with the Public Health Services Directorate of the Provincial Health Directorate. In the diabetes information and screening program, dietitian Nilüfer Elmalı first gave the women of Altındağ; Information was provided on topics such as "What is diabetes, how many types of diabetes are there, symptoms of diabetes, what is hyperglycemia, how to prevent it and nutritional recommendations to prevent diabetes." Then, women's blood sugar, height and weight were measured and recommendations were made. Women from Altındağ expressed that they were very pleased with this service and expressed their gratitude to Mayor Tiryaki. “14 OUT OF 100 PEOPLE IN TURKEY HAVE DIABETES…” Dietician Nilüfer Elmalı said, "Diabetes is an increasing public health problem not only in our country but also in the world... The number of individuals with diabetes is expected to be 643 million people in the world in 2030. This is actually related to the deterioration of our eating habits and the decrease in our activity. The more unhealthy we eat and do not exercise, the more this rate will increase. Diabetes is the 8th cause of death in the world, and 14 out of 100 people in Turkey have diabetes... The number of people with diabetes in Turkey between the ages of 20 and 79 is 7 million..." he said. Dietician Nilüfer Elmalı also gave information about what needs to be done to prevent diabetes. Elmalı “We must eat right and healthy. We need to adjust the time and amount of carbohydrates we eat. We should consume protein and minerals and drink plenty of water. The natural way of eating healthy is to eat what we cook at home and balance our blood sugar. "We should stay away from fatty foods, increase our vegetable portions and not skip meals," he said.
